Lea Michele, star of the popular show Glee, knows her style. She combines different trends in one very cute outfit: leather, skater skirt, beanies and a fluffy sweater. I love it!

Style inspiration: Lydia Martin (Teen Wolf)

Are you familiar with the TV series Teen Wolf? Scott is an ordinary high school boy who is attacked one night by a werewolf and inherits the curse himself. You follow him, his friends and family and see how they deal with the curse and all the problems it brings along. It's a show with a lot of action but contains also romance and comedy.

Lydia Martin in Teen Wolf is a friend of Scott's. At first look, she seems shallow and bitchy, but soon you find out that's just an act. She's extremely intelligent and is often the only one of her friends who can figure out how to solve a difficult problem and maybe even save someones life.

She's very stylish and always looks beautiful, it's her way of 'hiding' her intelligence to maintain her social status as one of the most popular students. Her outfits are often on the preppy side, which suits her character. Lydia's stunning red hair always looks romantic: loose curls, hair bands and braids for the win!

Here are some of my favorite looks.

What do you think of her look? Don't hesitate to leave a comment!

Personalized Cluedo (Clue) DIY

With the birthday of one of my best friends coming up, I wanted to do something very original and creative. I had lots of abstract ideas but nothing would seem just what I wanted. Then suddenly I had myself an Aha!-experience: I was going to make a personalized game of Cluedo (or Clue as they call it in North America)! It turned out to be an awesome gift so I thought I'd share it with you.
No shame: I called it 'The Awesomeness Edition'

The idea
First off, choose six names (yourself, the birthday boy or girl and four other friends), these are the players and murder suspects. Also, pick a murder victim. I chose Ryan Gosling to play the victim of a fierce crime of passion (the girls I made it for loved this!).

Once you've got this sorted out, you can start making the board and cards. I found this to be rather time consuming, but the work was fun nevertheless.

The board
I went online and googled for an image of a standard cluedo board. Make sure you search for an image large enough to cover an entire board (20x20 inch or 50x50 cm). Open it up in Photoshop (or any other image editing software) and change the names of the rooms, the characters and the logo in the middle. This is what mine looked like at that point:
Print this out on self adhesive foil or paper and stick it on a piece of cardboard or an actual old board of another game.

The cards
There are 3 different sorts of cards used in this game: the suspects, the weapons and the rooms.

  1. The suspects (6): the original suspects are Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr Green, Mrs. Peacock and Professor Plum. But move over, these are now you and your friends!
  2. The rooms (9): keep the standard ones (kitchen, conservatory, dining room, billiard room, library, hall, lounge, ball room and study) or invent your own.
  3. The weapons (6): a candle stick, a dagger, a lead pipe, a revolver, a rope and a wrench are the standard weapons in a Cluedo game. However I chose to change these into more fitting items for my friends: a cocktail glass, a bowling ball, a hair dryer, a candle stick (kept that one), a civil code and an umbrella.

The actual weapons
The six weapons, choose them wisely, because you've got to be able to find or make them! That is because the game requires that the actual weapons lay around on the board during the game so that players can move them to a room when they want to make a suggestion. I mostly found my weapons in the box of LEGO® I still had. The key here is: be creative, but don't make this too hard.
the cards and their respective weapons

The murder envelope
Design a murder envelope. This is where, at the beginning of the game, three cards - one suspect, one weapon, and one room card - are collected. These cards represent the facts of the case.

Detective notes
These are pieces of paper every player is given at the start of the game. Every suspect, room and weapon is listed and the player can check off any possibilities. These notes are simple to make in Office Word. Hint: make a ton of detective notes, because every time you've played, these are thrown away.

A how-to-play manual
I also added a manual that stated all the playing rules. This was important because neither of us had ever played Cluedo before. And even if you have, what kind of board game doesn't have a manual of some sort? I made it look like an old newspaper that covered the story of the brutal murder of Ryan Gosling.

The box
This is the final step: design a box to store all this! Here's what I made:
The magnifying glass says: "Who killed Ryan Gosling? Where? And with what?"

And that's that! I've worked on this for 4 or 5 days, so it's a lot of work, but very fun to be doing. We've played it a few times already and it made some great evenings with friends!

Enjoy the game and don't hesitate to leave a comment!

Hey guys! Here's a third Outfit of the Week! I chose a look from the ABC Family hit series Pretty Little Liars. How awesome is this show? I went for a look of Lucy Hale a.k.a. Aria Montgomery. She's wearing a black studded dress, black high heels, a chunky necklace and a black bag with animal print.

Style inspiration: Emily Thorne (Revenge)

By now you probably understand I'm a TV show enthusiast! Here's a third series I wanted to share with you all. It's called Revenge and is full of intrigues, love triangles and mystery. Need I say more?

The show circles around Emily Thorne (played by Emily VanCamp), who's father was framed for a crime he didn't commit. Years later his daughter is out for revenge.

Emily has a very pretty taste in clothes, I think. She always looks classy. Her hair is mostly in loose curls and she wears simple but beautiful make-up.
Here are my favorite looks!

Which look is your favorite? And if you have any TV show recommendations for me, please let me know!

On Trend: Ear Cuffs

2:50 PM

I bought my first ear cuffs today! Ear cuffs are an alternative to the normal ear rings we wear every day. It's a great way to bring an edge to any basic look. You only wear them on one ear, otherwise it would be too much. Ear cuffs have been trending for a while and are frequently spotted on the red carpet. Here you can see Diane Kruger and Jennifer Lawrence rocking them.

I chose subtle ear cuffs, so I can wear them every day. Because I'm not invited to red carpet events every weekend, I thought that this way I would wear them more often.

If you want to stay on trend, there are some great ear cuffs to find on eBay, check it out!

Taylor Swift was spotted walking around in LA rocking a preppy outfit the other day. Whether you like her music or not, you've got to admit this is a very cute ensemble. Find out here how you can wear the look for less!

Add some knee socks and/or tights and you can wear this outfit during the colder weather as well (we can't all live in LA, you know).
