It's been a while, way to long. It's been a crazy busy year. I bought a house, moved in with my love, graduated law school and got a job!
Last week, I finally had the time to go on a highly anticipated and earned holiday. A week at one of the most beautiful places of France, it could be worse. Like every year, at the end of summer, we went to Lake Annecy. We always rent an apartment in a little town called Doussard. I'll be blogging all the must-go places very soon.
Today I want to share a delicious cocktail recipe. On vacation, we went to a great restaurant called L'Abri-Côtier. The tables are placed right near the lake, it's magical. Pretty lights everywhere, swans that swim right next tot you... More about it in another post soon!
So, back to the cocktail. The waiter suggested we tried the 'cocktail maison', a drink based on Aperol mixed with a special red wine called 'Fragolino'. It was wonderful. Deep red color, perfect mix of fresh and sweet...
Back home, we couldn't wait to recreate this cocktail with ingredients we could find at home. We experimented until we found the perfect recipe for our interpretation of the cocktail we loved so much back there.
So here it is!
Ingredients: Aperol, red lambrusco wine and an orange.
For those who don't know lambrusco, it's a red or white Italian wine that is a bit sweeter and has a light sparkle. Delicious!
This cocktail is so easy peasy. Just mix roughly 1 part Aperol with 1 part lambrusco. Cut the orange in half and use the juice from one of those halves in your drink. The other half is perfect for decoration: cut it up and use one piece on the side of the glass and the rest in the drink.
And there you have it!
